βœ… Requirements

  • β€’ Applicants should be in possession of an LLB Degree or a four (4) year Legal qualification
  • β€’ A minimum of two (2) years' legal experience obtained after qualification
  • β€’ MR3: LLB Degree or equivalent plus a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in legal profession
  • β€’ MR4: LLB Degree or equivalent plus minimum of 8 years post qualification experience in legal profession
  • β€’ MR5: LLB Degree or equivalent plus a minimum of 14 years post qualification experience in legal profession

  • β€’ Manage and execute quasi -judicial functions
  • β€’ Co -ordination of Case Flow Management support process to the Judiciary and Prosecution
  • β€’ Manage the issuing of all processes
  • β€’ Initiating Court Proceedings
  • β€’ Co -ordinate, interpreting services, appeals and reviews
  • β€’ Process unopposed divorces and the facilitation of Pre -Trial conferences
  • β€’ Quality checks on Criminal Record Book
  • β€’ Authenticate signatures of Legal Practitioners, Notaries and Sworn Translators
  • β€’ Supervision and management of staff
  • β€’ Provide practic al training and assistance to the Registrars' Clerks
  • β€’ Ensure annotation of relevant publications, codes, acts and rules
  • β€’ Attend to and execute requests from the Judiciary in connection with cases and case related matters
  • β€’ Exercise control over the manageme nt and safekeeping of case records and the record room
  • β€’ Deal with the files in terms of the relevant codes and Legislation

All shortlisted candidates, including SMS, shall undertake two pre -entry assessments. One must be a practical exercise, and the other must be an Integri ty (Ethical Conduct) Assessment. Selection panels shall score both technical exercises as an additional criterion in the interview process. All shortlisted candidates for SMS posts will be subjected to a technical competency exercise that intends to test relevant technical elements of the job, the logistics of which will be communicated by the Department. Following the interview and technical exercise, the selection panel will recommend candidates to attend generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tools. Applicants could be required to provide consent for access to their social media accounts. Prior to appointment for SMS, a candidate would be required to complete the Nyukela Programme: Pre-entry Certificate to Senior Management Services as endorsed by DPSA which is an online course, endorsed by the National School of Government (NSG). The course is available at the NSG under the name Certificate for entry into the SMS and the full details can be sourced by the followi ng link: https://www.thensg.gov.za/training -course/sms -pre-entry -programme/. Each application form must be fully completed, duly signed and initialed on both pages by the applicant.
